New Delhi, August 01, 2023: Government of India has notified the draft mandating installation of air-conditioning system in cabins of motor vehicles belonging to categories N2 and N3 which will be manufactured from January 1, 2025 onwards.
Union Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) has already issued the draft notification mandating the installation of air-conditioning system.
Category N2: Means motor vehicles used for carriage of goods and having a gross vehicle weight exceeding 3.5 tons but not exceeding 12 tons.
Category N3: means motor vehicles used for carriage of goods and having a gross vehicle weight exceeding 12 tons.
The performance testing of the cabin fitted with air-conditioning system shall be as per IS 14618: 2022, as amended from time to time, official sources said.
Comments and suggestions have been invited from the stakeholders by August 10, 2023 on the notification.
The comments and suggestions can be sent on comments-morth[at]gov[dot]in, they said.
