Raipur, January 29, 2009: The Election Commission of India has asked for a panel of three IAS officers from Chhattisgarh government to decide the name of the officer, who would replace Dr Alok Shukla as the state Chief Electoral Officer.

The Appointments Committee of Cabinet of the Government of India has cleared the posting of the 1986 batch IAS officer Shukla and posted him in place of R Bhattacharya as the Deputy Election Commissioner of India.

The Election Commission has written a letter and asked the Chief Secretary yesterday to provide a panel of three IAS officers along with their ACR dossiers to select a suitable officer for the appointment of the next CEO of the state, top officials told CgTopNews.com here today.

However, the names must be of direct recruit officers and at least of the Secretary rank, they said.

Previously Additional Chief Secretary rank officer A K Vijayvargiya had been appointed as the Chief Electoral Officer of the state to conduct the elections and this time also an officer with a good record would likely to be appointed by the Election Commission, they said.
