Raipur, August 02, 2010: After the hooliganism by the members of the Dharam Sena and Bajrang Dal yesterday during Friendship Day were echoed in Chhattisgarh Assembly, the government today suspended one Station House Officer and nine policemen.
All section of the society had condemned the action of the saffron activists for assaulting young boys and girls and blackening their faces in various hotels, parks of the capital city in the presence of police.
Opposition Congress members raised the issue in the state assembly and demanded the resignation of the Chief Minister Dr Raman Singh and Home Minister Nanki Ram Kanwar over the issue.
After the opposition benches put a question mark on the functioning of the Capital police, in haste Raipur District Superintendent of Police Dipanshu Kaabra suspended ten police, personnel including the SHO of the Purani Basti.
Police also claimed to have arrested five of the saffron activists, who were allegedly involved in yesterday incident.
