Raipur, November 24, 2010: In a bizarre incident a two-year-old boy was allegedly sacrificed by a witch-doctor in Durg district of Chhattisgarh, police said today.
“The entire family members of a tantrik have been arrested for allegedly sacrificing a two-year-old boy at their house in Ruabandha close to Industrial town of Bhilai,” Durg District Superintendent of Police Amit Kumar told ChhattisgarhTopNews.Com.
“The witch doctor, his wife and three children were arrested yesterday after the body of the child was recovered from their worship place along with knife used for the crime,” he said.
Giving details, Amit Kumar said a labourer Poshan Singh Rajput was living in the Ruabandha area with his wife and the two year old son Chirag.
The boy suddenly went missing yesterday afternoon while playing on the street and the Rajput family complaint to the police. On suspicion, police went to the house of witch doctor and found blood stains in their worship room.
On interrogation, the witch doctor said he was not aware of the missing child of the neighbourhood and the blood stains were that of a goat, he had offered to the deity. But he failed to show the carcass of the goat he claimed to have offered, the SP said
On suspicion, when police made physical verification found the body of the child covered with a cloth in the worship room and subsequently arrested the witch doctor and his entire family, the police officer said
