Ambikapur, December 06, 2011: Bilaspur District and Sessions Judge Anita Jha would probe the alleged fake encounter case of Meena Khalko.
After the state government declared a judicial probe into the matter, Judge Jha was appointed as a single member commission to probe the incident, officials said here today.
Additional Collector A Lakda has also been appointed as the Secretary of the Judicial Commission, they said.
Meena Khalko was shot dead by police on July 06, 2011 at village Nawadih of Chando police station area in Sarguja district accusing her as a Maoist.
However, her family members dismissed the police theory of her being a Maoist and accused foul play by the police.
The main opposition Congress had also alleged that the tribal woman was raped and murdered by the police, which had dominated the newspaper headlines for a longer period forcing the state government to announce for a judicial probe into the incident on September 22, 2011.
Meanwhile, the Judicial Commission has asked the people to furnish evidences in connection with the death of Khalko.
