Raipur, July 30, 2009: Monsoon Session of the Chhattisgarh Assembly was today adjourned prematurely.
Although officially no reason was assigned for the adjournment of the session a day ahead of its schedule, sources said it was done as the house had completed all its business a day before its schedule.
The Monsoon Session was started from July 20 and was to continue up to July 31 but it only had the working days of July 20, 21, 22, 23, 24, 27, 28, 29 and 30, during which the house took up the First Supplementary budget. A total of ten legislations were moved and five were passed and only 68 questions were asked during question hours.
On the final day Speaker Dharam Lal Kaushik before declaring the house sine die asked the members to decide how to run the house and spent more time in discussion.
Chief Minister Dr Raman Singh said during the session the opposition raised many questions on Naxal and paddy procurement among others and the Government gave reply to all of them.
Leader of Opposition Ravindra Choubey said the house witnessed several tensed moments but the intention of the Opposition was never wrong.
Finally a day before the Speaker Kaushik declared the house sine die.
