Jagdalpur, September 19, 2009: Armed Maoists have killed six CRPF personnel, including three officers, in Dantewada district of Chhattisgarh in fierce encounters.
Maoists and security forces were locked in fierce gun battles in various places of Dantewada district since Thursday and on the first day one Assistant Commandant of the Commando Battalion for Resolute Action (CoBRA) of CRPF and two naxalites were killed, CRPF officials told ChhattisgarhTopNews.Com today.
The battle was continued yesterday also, after which five of the CRPF personnel were missing and three were injured.
Today the dead bodies of another Assistant Commandant, one Sub Inspector, one Head Constable and two constables were found near the Burk Lanka village, CRPF sources said adding in total six CRPF personnel were killed in those incidents.
Meanwhile, Konta police said they have recovered about six of the bodies of naxalites, who were killed in the encounter and are being brought to Konta for identification.
Maoists were running a gun factory between Chintagupha and Kistaram, close to Andhra Pradesh border in Dantewada District, which was raided by Dantewada District Police and personnel from CoBRA of CRPF on Thursday and killed several naxalites.
However, retaliating that, the rebels yesterday attacked security forces in different places including at Bhejji, Singamadgu and Palechelma and killed on Assistant Commandant Manoranjan Singh and three jawans were injured, police said.
After that incident five other security forces of CRPF were reported missing and their bodies were recovered today.
Police had also recovered one Self Loaded Rifle (SLR), two 12 bore, 10 ML rifles and two grenades besides many other materials from the naxal camps.
