Korba, December 01, 2012: The Central PSU NTPC has offered fly ash free of cost to the farmers of Chhattisgarh saying the ash could increase fertility of the land.
The NTPC would provide fly ash free of cost to the farmers, who are willing to use that on their farm land, General Manager of National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) Korba S K Roy told farmers.
A Kisan Mela with active participation of about 300 farmers was organised jointly by the Indira Gandhi Agriculture University and the NTPC Korba yesterday at Suttara Krisi Vigyan Kendra at Katghora.
NTPC officials and scientists from the University interacted with the farmers on the use of fly ash to enhance the ph-value of the soil and thereby increase in fertility as well as productivity, a company release said today.
The farmers, who had come from nearby villages, took interest in utilization of fly ash generated by the power station.
Soil Scientist S S Singer also briefed the participants about the benefit of fly ash and said their team would extend cooperation to the farmers willing to use fly ash on their land, it added.
