Raipur, December 5, 2009: The authorities today confirmed the death of a girl of H1N1 in Chhattisgarh.

“One 25-year old girl has died of swine flu or H1N1 in a private hospital in the capital city of Chhattisgarh at Raipur” State Health Secretary Vikash Sheel told ChhattisgarhTopNews.Com.

About three days back the girl was admitted to the hospital and along with her, samples of four other patients had also been collected from the same hospital and out of them only one case (the 25-year old girl) was reported today as positive, he said.

“So far two deaths have been reported and 38 positive cases of H1N1 have been found in Chhattisgarh state, when samples of 350 suspected cases had been collected and sent for laboratory tests,” Health Department officials said.

Previously one para military personnel had died of H1N1 at Bilaspur.

Talking about the latest casualty, the officials said after the girl was confirmed as H1N1, samples of 40 of the people, including hospital staff, had also been collected and sent for clinical confirmation.

However, the treatment for the 40 people had been started fearing that they might have come in contact with the H1N1 patient during treatment or during attending her, they added.
