Raipur, November 18, 2008: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi is worried about the party prospect in Chhattisgarh, but he is more worried about the gaining ground of BSP in this SC and ST majority state.
After completing his third round of election campaign in Chhattisgarh yesterday, Gandhi enquired about the prospect of the Congress in this election and more importantly the actual position of Bahujan Samaj Party and the Nationalist Congress Party, Congress sources told ChhattisgarhTopNews.Com here today.
Rahul was unhappy with the gatherings in some of his meetings, including Bhilai and especially when he learnt from his own partymen that the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati had a meeting in Bilaspur on Sunday with a huge gathering of 50,000, he asked the party state leaders to put more efforts, the sources said.
Who was ahead, Congress or BJP in Chhattisgarh assembly election and what was the position of BSP and NCP, Rahul asked some of the top state leaders of the state.
To know the actual situation of the state, he also asked PCC President Dhanendra Sahu to get down from the helicopter, while travelling from Raipur Police ground to Mana Airport and asked state Executive President Charan Das Mahant to accompany him up to Mana yesterday evening and during that period both also discussed on the same issue, sources claimed.
During his visit leaders also brought to his notice the failure of the state Congress leaders to defect some top BSP and NCP leaders into party fold despite a section of the party had done even advanced ground work on that matter.
