Raipur, September 22, 2011: Chhattisgarh Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Dr Raman Singh, today approved a judicial probe into the sensational murder of Meena Khalko in Sarguja district.
Meena Khalko was shot dead by police on July 06, 2011 at village Nawadih of Chando police station area in Sarguja district accusing her as a Maoist.
However, her family members dismissed the police theory of her being a Maoist and accused foul play by the police.
The main opposition Congress had also alleged that the tribal woman was raped and murdered by the police, which had dominated the newspaper headlines for a longer period forcing the state government to announce for a judicial probe into the incident.
The cabinet today discussed the matter and approved a judicial probe into the matter through the District and Sessions Judge Bilaspur Anita Jha.
Similarly, to probe the March 2011 encounter between police and Maoists and arson in Chintalnar area a judicial probe led by Justice T P Sharma was constituted on May 12, 2011. The Cabinet today approved the Justice Sharma probe commission on that incident also, a release said.
