Raipur, September 27, 2017: Chhattisgarh Cabinet today approved a proposal for government procurement of paddy from the farmers between November 15 and January 31, next year.
Chief Minister Dr Raman Singh presided over a meeting of the cabinet to decide procurement of paddy and Makka (corn) with the minimum support price.
The cabinet decided to procure paddy from November 15 to January 31, 2017 through the primary agriculture cooperative societies, Food and Civil Supply Minister Punnu Lal Mohle said.
Similarly corn would be purchased between November 15 and March 31, 3017 through the societies.
For the paddy procurement State Marketing Federation is named as the nodal agency where as Civil Supply Corporation has been entrusted the job to procure corn from the farmers.
For the common variety of rice, the state government has fixed the minimum support price as Rs 1470 and for A-grade paddy it would be Rs 1510 per quintal, Minister Mohle said.
In this Khariff season, the state government has decided to procure 15 quintal per acre, including linking, he said.
Similarly the government has fixed the corn price as Rs 1365 per quintal.
