Rajnandgaon, April 19, 2011: Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Dr Raman Singh today started his Gram Suraj Abhiyan 2011 from the hyper naxal affected Sitagaon village under Manpur block of Rajnandgaon district.
Manpur area, bordered Maharashtra, shot into lime light a decade back for a wrong reason as Maoists had for the first time looted the Manpur police station in Chhattisgarh area after they became powerful.
The helicopter landed at Sitagaon at 10.30 AM with the Chief Minister, his secretary Aman Kumar Singh and Chief Secretary P Joy Oommen and spent about 90 minutes with the villagers and the Indo-Tibetan Border Police force personnel, who have been deployed in that area for anti-Maoists operation.
The Chief Minister visited the ITBP camp at Sitagaon and interacted with the forces there. ITBP Company Commandant Kushal Kumar briefed Singh about the anti-Maoist operation in Sitagaon-Madanwada area. The force commanders also gave a power point presentation about the network of Maoists and the steps being taken by the government forces to combat that.
Singh also went to the local bazaar where the District Collector Sidharth Komal Pardeshi said people have no problems and everything was right in place starting from PDS to pension.
On the demand of the villagers for a stop dam at Hatikasha rivulet, the Chief Minister sanctioned Rs 25 lakh for that.
