Raipur, May 25, 2026: Chhattisgarh Revenue Minister Tank Ram Verma today conducted a surprise inspection of the Raipur Tehsil Office and the new Divisional Commissioner’s Office. During the inspection, the Minister expressed deep displeasure upon discovering a “snail’s pace” and negligence in the disposal of revenue-related matters.
Minister Verma took officials to task regarding the delays occurring in sensitive cases affecting the general public—such as mutation (transfer of title), error correction, demarcation, and partition—and issued strict directives for their expeditious resolution.
In particular, finding extremely slow progress in land diversion cases, the Minister severely reprimanded the Sub-Divisional Officer (SDM) of Raipur.

During the inspection, the Revenue Minister also took stock of the cleanliness and sanitation arrangements within the office premises. He expressed his displeasure regarding the litter scattered across the premises and the disorganized manner in which files were being maintained.
The Minister issued strict instructions to officials to ensure a clean environment and adequate seating arrangements within the office for the convenience of the general public, while also directing that all government documents and files be maintained in a completely organized manner.
To gain a detailed understanding of the Tehsil Office’s operational workflow, the Revenue Minister personally visited the Bhuiyan Branch, Kanungo Branch, WBN Branch, and Maljamadar Branch. Additionally, he conducted a thorough inspection of the courts of the Tehsildar and Naib Tehsildar. While reviewing court proceedings, he stated unequivocally that hearings in revenue courts must be conducted continuously so that the general public is not subjected to harassment due to the cycle of “date after date.”

He asserted that the attitude of letting people wait from morning until evening only to be given a subsequent date without a hearing would not be tolerated.
During the inspection, officials provided statistical details, informing the Minister that out of a total of 65,390cases registered in the Tehsil so far, 64,702 have been resolved, and currently, only 688cases remain pending.
In response, the Minister set a target to immediately clear all remaining pending cases within a stipulated timeframe, aiming to bring the backlog down to zero.
The Minister not only scrutinized the files but also reached out to the general public present on the premises to engage in direct dialogue with them. He listened to the people’s grievances and issues, directing the officials present on the spot to ensure their prompt resolution.
Following his visit to the Tehsil office, Minister Verma proceeded to the new Divisional Commissioner’s office. There, he directed the Divisional Commissioner to resolve pending revenue cases within a stipulated timeframe.
In addition to streamlining operations and strengthening supervisory oversight, the Minister instructed the Divisional Commissioner to formulate a clear roadmap outlining the actual progress of revenue-related activities across all districts within the division.
