Raipur, May 25, 2026: Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai has taken a significant decision in the interest of farmers, keeping in mind the preparations for the upcoming Kharif season.

After reviewing the availability of petrol and diesel in the state, the Chief Minister issued clear directives to ensure the easy availability of diesel for farmers, as per their requirements, for use in tractors for tilling fields and in irrigation pumps, so that farming activities remain unaffected.

Chief Minister Sai stated that farmers are the backbone of the state’s economy, and no hindrance of any kind in the preparations for the Kharif season will be deemed acceptable.

He has directed the Food Department, the District Administration, and oil companies to ensure that diesel is made available to farmers in a timely manner and without any difficulties.

Sai emphasized that all oil companies and the District Administration must take special care to ensure that farmers are able to procure diesel for farming purposes with ease during the upcoming Kharif season.

It is noteworthy that, in accordance with the directives issued by the Food Department on May 22, 2026—aimed at curbing the misuse of petrol and diesel—a ban has been imposed on dispensing fuel into drums and jerrycans at 2,516 petrol and diesel pumps across the state.

However, keeping in view the needs of farmers and the preparations for the Kharif season, necessary exemptions have been granted within this framework to ensure that field tilling, sowing, and irrigation activities remain uninterrupted.

Food Secretary Reena Baba Saheb Kangale informed that the availability of petrol and diesel in Chhattisgarh is adequate. Currently, the state holds a stock of 40.3 million liters of petrol and 55.5 million liters of diesel.

Furthermore, on May 24, 2026, the state received an additional supply of 2.33 million liters of petrol and 6.24 million liters of diesel. The regular supply of petrol and diesel continues across the state in accordance with requirements.

Chief Minister Sai has assured the people of the state, particularly the farmers, that the state government is working with utmost sensitivity and promptness to ensure the uninterrupted availability of essential diesel, giving top priority to agricultural requirements during the Kharif season.

He stated that instructions have been issued to the district administration and concerned agencies to maintain necessary coordination and continuous vigilance, thereby ensuring that farmers face no inconvenience whatsoever regarding field tilling, sowing, and irrigation.
