          Bhilai, September 20, 2008: Bhilai Steel Plant, the flag ship company of the Steel Authority of India Limited, has signed a Rs 401 crore MoU with a private company for Coke Oven Battery for the expansion plant.

           The BSP signed the MoU with the consortium of M/S Giprokoks and M/S CUI of Ukraine, led by Bhilai Engineering Corporation (BEC) of Bhilai on Tuesday last for Coke Oven Battery No 11 in the presence of BSP MD R Ramaraju and a host of officials and representatives from both sides.

           M/S MECON Ltd is the consultant for the project, which is meant for the 7.5 million tonnes expansion plan of the BSP and the completion period of this project is 28 months, BSP sources said here today.

            The seven metre tall Coke Oven Battery No 11 would have the state of art and environment-friendly technology, the BSP said.

            The Coke Oven Battery would cater to the coke requirement of new blast furnace which would produce 8.80 lakh tonnes of coke per year.

            The contract was inked by Executive Director (Projects), VK Arora, on behalf of Bhilai Steel Plant and Arvind Jain, Managing Director BEC.
