Raipur, August 26, 2016: With an investment of Rs 800 crore Chhattisgarh government has drafted an ambitious plan to provide residential quarters to all government employees at the block headquarters.

A whopping Rs 800 crore would be invested to construct the quarters at all the block headquarters of the state by the state government, Housing and Environment Secretary Sanjay Shukla said.

Even after 16 years of creation of the state from Madhya Pradesh, there was bare minimal infrastructure available at rural sector because of which employees are reluctant to opt for a posting in the rural areas, officials said.

Meanwhile, Chief Secretary Vivek Kumar Dhand has directed the district Collectors to survey and earmark suitable government lands located in prime area of the block headquarters.

The Chief Secretary has also asked the Housing and Environment department to create a technical committee, so that quality quarters could be constructed throughout the state.

The state government has also decided to construct 1.74 lakh houses this year besides the government quarters at the block level, Additional Chief Secretary Panchayat Raj and Rural Development M K Raut said.

Under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana a total of 1.74 lakh houses would be constructed this year alone in the rural sector of Chhattisgarh, for which district wise allotment has already been issued, said Raut.
