     Raipur, June 06, 2010: Samata Express train was today derailed in Mahasamund district of Chhattisgarh, Railway officials said.

     “Six wheels of the engine of the 2808 Samata Express Train jumped the track at about 9.30 AM today,” East Coast Railway Zone official from Orissa told ChhattisgarhTopNews.Com.

     “Primary investigation has revealed there was problem of welding on the railway track, because of which the six back wheels of the Engine jumped off the railway track,” the official said.

     However, the senior official clarified that no one was killed or injured in that incident.

     When proceeding towards Delhi via Raipur, from Visakhapatnam via Titlagarh the Samata Express with full passengers jumped the track near Arand, after crossing the Mahasamund Railway Station, the official said.

     Relief work has already been initiated and senior officials have also rushed to the spot, which falls under the East Coast Railway Zone, whose headquarters is located at Bhubaneswar, to restore rail services.
