     Raipur, October 31, 2009: Chhattisgarh Government today announced to give Bilaspur District Collector Sonmani Borah the Veer Narayan Award on the foundation day function to be inaugurated by state Governor ESL Narasimhan.

     For his outstanding work on tribal development the State Government today selected Sonmani Borah, IAS, for the Saheed Veer Narayan Singh award.

     In a press conference Culture Minister Brij Mohan Agrawal also announced that the government has decided to give jointly Yashwant Ghote and Govind Patel the Chandulal Chandrakar fellowship for journalism.

     Although names of 14 awards were announced today but the Minister said nine awards would not be given tomorrow, including Guru Ghashidas award, Haji Hasan Ali Award, Maharaja Praveer Bhanjdev Award, Chakradhar Award, Dhanwantari Award, Vilasa Bai Kewatin Award, Maharaja Ramanuj Pratap Singh Award, Sanskrit Award, Non-Resident (Indian) Chhattisgarhi Award.  

     However, Dr Bhamar Singh Porte Award went to Maa Bhagwati Vatsalya Niketan, Rajnandgaon, Yati Yatanlal Samman to Shree Shringi Rishi Goushala Jivarakshya Seva Samity, Pandaripani, Sihawa, Pt Ravi Shankar Shukla Samman to Archeologist A K Sharma.

     Maharaja Agrasen Award went to Vikash Parishad, Tikra Para, Raipur,  Pt Sundar Lal Sharma Award to Dr Kuntal Goyal, Dau Mandraji Award to Ram Charan Nirmalkar, Gundadhur Award to Rushtam Sarang, Mini Mata Award to Pragati Women Self Help Group Bhelwapadar, Kondagaon.

     Thakur Pyarelal Singh Award went to District Cooperative Bank Raipur, Dr Khub Chand Baghel Award to Vijaya Yadav, Danveer Bhamasaha Award to J P Agrawal, and Pt Lakhan Lal Mishra Award went to Rohini Pratap Ahiwar, Bilaspur.

     Those awards would be given away tomorrow evening in the Rajyotshav function, to be inaugurated by the Governor, which would be presided over by the Chief Minister Dr Raman Singh.
