Jagdalpur, April 19, 2010: Iron ore laden goods train was derailed today in Bastar district of Chhattisgarh, railway authority said.
Including Engine, 17 wagons of the goods train were derailed today at Dilmili area under Kodenar police Station, about 55 Km from the district headquarters Jagdalpur, District Superintendent of Police P Sundar Raj told ChhattisgarhTopNews.Com.
The train was going to Visakhapatnam from Kirandul with iron ore, he said.
To a question, the SP clarified that they had no proof to say it was an act of naxalites, as there was no poster or banner left in the site of accident to claim responsibility.
The incident site was coming under the East Coast Railway Zone and when contacted, its Chief Spokesman Sanjeev Mehta said the matter was under investigation.
Officials have reached the spot and only after the investigation was over they could be able to say something, said Mehta by phone from Bhubaneswar.
