Raipur, October 10, 2008: Umesh Dwivedi today took over charges as the Joint Secretary of the Public Relations Department of the Government of Chhattisgarh.
Dwivedi took over his new responsibility today at the state Secretariat.
Earlier creating a history, Dwivedi was made the Director Public Relations of Chhattisgarh on September 15, last as for the first time a non IAS officer had been made in-charge of the Directorate of Public Relations.
Even when Raman Singh became the Chief Minister on December 7, 2003, his Secretary Vivek Dhand, than Secretary public Relations, had attempted to make his loyal official Anil Tuteja as the Director Public Relations.
But not only the department people, but also the cadre people had opposed that saying a non-IAS can not become the head of DPR as that was a cadre post for IAS, but after four years the same was allowed with out any objection.
