     Korba, September 26, 2009: At least 42 bodies have been recovered so far from the accident site, where the 178-metre Chimney of Rs 5000 crore power plant of the Vedanta (BALCO) in Korba of Chhattisgarh was collapsed on September 23.

     After the arrival of CISF team the rescue operation had gather momentum and on the fourth day of the incident 42 bodies have been recovered, said Korba District Collector Ashok Agrawal.

     Meanwhile, GDCL official P N Singh rules out any lighting was the reason for collapse of the Chimney.

     Any lighting cannot damage in such a magnitude of a Chimney. Either weak foundation or tremor in the earth could be the reason for collapse of the structure, Singh said.

     Also after visiting the accident site CISF rescue team chief Arun Kumar said, he had never seen such a devastating accident site and added that through machine only rescue operation could be initiated here.
