Raipur, August 28, 2010: In a new development, Chhattisgarh government has decided to open over 45,000 libraries in as many schools in the state, with an initial investment of Rs 23 crore, officials said today.
It has been decided to open libraries in 32,480 primary schools and 13,449 middle schools of the state, the School Education Department officials said.
For making arrangement of books in the primary schools allotments of Rs 9.74 crore and for middle schools Rs 13.44 crore have been made, they said.
A committee had also been formed, which would select the books for these libraries, they said.
Rajiv Gandhi Sikshya Mission officials said each of the primary school libraries would be given books worth Rs 3,000 where as for middle schools the amount would be Rs 10,000.
