     Ambikapur, September 02, 2016: Union Health Minister Jagat Prakash Nadda will inaugurate the Ambikapur Medical College here tomorrow, which will be the sixth government medical college of Chhattisgarh.

     Nadda will be arriving at Raipur today late evening in a special plane and tomorrow he will participate in the function at the Sarguja divisional headquarters.

     Chief Minister Dr Raman Singh will preside over the function, in which several of his ministers and officials will participate, officials said.

     The inaugural function is scheduled at 12 noon at PG College ground, they added.

     The Medical Council of India has approved 100 seats for MBBS in the Ambikapur medical college, officials said adding with that the total number of medical seats in Chhattisgarh state has increased to 800, including 150 of a private medical college.

     Currently government medical colleges are functioning in Raipur as Jawaharlal Medical College and at Bilaspur in the name of Chhattisgarh Institute of Medical Sciences.

     Similarly, in the year 2006 Jagdalpur Medical College was started and in 2013 Raigarh Medical College began functioning. In 2014 Rajnandgaon Medical College was started, officials said.
