BJP-Cong Clashes over installing statue of Vajpayee

     Bhilai, December 25, 2022: Workers from ruling Congress and main opposition BJP today clashed over installation of a statue of former Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee at a public garden here in the steel city of Durg district in Chhattisgarh on his birthday.
     BJP leaders were gathered at a garden here in the Camp area to celebrate the birth anniversary of the former Prime Minister and also wanted to install a statue of Vajpayee.

     However, local Congress workers, led by a local word member, opposed that.

     Congress workers said the garden was developed with the money from the local Congress MLA and also locals wanted to have an open gymnasium in that place.

     Hence they opposed the installation of the statue of Vajpayee and the verbal duel subsequently turned into a violent clash between the workers from both the BJP and the Congress.

     Police intervened to separate both the groups and forces have been deployed to maintain peace in that area, police said.
