Raipur, August 22, 2009: A day before the Ganesh Puja, a bomb explosion in a passenger bus rocked the capital city of Chhattisgarh at Raipur.
However, no one was killed or injured in that blast, carried out close to the State party headquarters of BJP Ekatma Parishar, SP (City) Shashi Mohan Singh told ChhattisgarhTopNews.Com.
The bomb was planted on the conductor seat, Forensic Department officials, who had examined the bus, said adding the bomb was made from low grade explosive, which was normally used in crackers.
A crater was created on the conductor seat and besides the front glass almost all the side glasses were totally destroyed due to the impact of the blast, they said.
The bus was used for ferrying the staff of Vandana Group to and from Siltara Industrial area and when it was parked near the BJP headquarters and without any staff close to that, the blast occurred at about 3.45 PM, Raipur Police said.
Senior officials, including SP Amit Kumar rushed to the spot and sniffer dog and Forensic experts were deployed to trace evidences of involvement of any organized gang.
