     New Delhi, August 30, 2012: The Government of India today removed restriction on SMSs through mobile phone with immediate effect.

     The restriction of sending SMS on mobile phones has been withdrawn with immediate effect, official sources said here.

     The restriction was imposed by the Centre post Assam violence to check circulation of objectionable content. 

     Looking into the condition the Government had imposed a restriction of five SMSs per day from August 17, 2012.

     After the situation was improved, a review was conducted and subsequently on August 24 the number was increased from five to twenty, official sources said.
