Raipur, August 29, 2012: Chhattisgarh is the only state in the country, which has been providing uninterrupted power supply to its farmers, State Chief Minister Dr Raman Singh said today.

“We have been providing 24-hour power supply for irrigation to farmers and this would continue for another 20 years,” the Chief Minister told a workshop on Irrigation here.

The state government has made elaborate arrangements on irrigation after placing a proper blue-print on the power supply issue relating to the farmers, Singh said.

The infrastructure on power sector is also rapidly being expanded, he said.

The Chief Minister also said his government was giving top priority to irrigation because of which the percentage of irrigation in the last six years have increased from 22 per cent to 32 per cent in the state.

The state government had also taken several steps to reduce the input cost on agriculture, Singh said.

As a part of that the rate of interest on agriculture loan was reduced to a mere one per cent from a whopping 15 per cent, he said.
