     Raipur, March 07, 2011: Chhattisgarh Assembly today paid rich tributes to former Chief Minister of undivided Madhya Pradesh and adjourned the house till tomorrow in respect of the departed soul.

     Immediately after the house assembled, Speaker Dharam Lal Kaushik mentioned about the death of the former union minister and senior Congress leader and said Arjun Singh was born on November 05, 1930 and died at New Delhi on March 04, last.

     As a sitting Chief Minister Singh got elected to Madhya Pradesh Assembly from Kharsia in Raigarh District of current Chhattisgarh.

     Chief Minister Dr Raman Singh said Arjun Singh had faced several ups and downs in his public life but because of his brilliance he came out from all situations.

     Chhattisgarh would also never forget his contribution to the state, whether it was giving honour to great soul of Chhattisgarh region of for Guru Ghasidas University and NIT at Raipur, Singh said.

     Leader of Opposition Ravindra Choubey, former Chief Minister Ajit Jogi, Nand Kumar Patel, Ram Pukar Singh, Prem Sai Singh Tekam, Pratima Chandrakar, Dujram Boudh of BSP and Agriculture Minister Chandrasekhar Sahu also paid tributes to the former Punjab Governor for his contribution to society and especially on Tendu leave policy and land records to slum dwellers.

     The House remained silence for two minutes and then adjourned for the day in respected of the departed soul.
