     New Delhi, January 18, 2023: The Election Commission of India today declared election schedule for three north eastern states namely Tripura, Nagaland and Meghalaya.

     The general election for Tripura Assembly will be held on February 16, Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar said today.

     The term of Tripura assembly ends on March 22.

     Election for Meghalaya and Nagaland will be held on February 27, he said.

     The terms of the Meghalaya assembly ends on March 15 while the term of the Nagaland Assembly ends on March 12.

     All the three state assemblies have strength of 60 members each.

     Counting of votes in all the three states will be taking place on March 2, 2023, he said.

    For Tripura poll notifications will be issued on January 21 and with that the nomination will be started and continue till January 30.

      Scrutiny will be taking place on January 31 and the last date of withdrawal of nomination for Tripura poll is February 2 and voting will takes place on February 16.

     Similarly for the states of Meghalaya and Nagaland the notifications will be issued on January 31 and with that the nomination process will be started and continue till February 7.

      Scrutiny will be taking place on February 8 and the last date of withdrawal of nomination for both the Meghalaya and Nagaland are February 10 and voting will takes place on February 27.
