Gyaneshwari Yadav Wins Gold Medal at International Weightlifting Tournament

Gyaneshwari Yadav of Chhattisgarh has brought glory to both the nation and the state by winning a gold medal in the 53 kg category at the IBFC Universal Cup-2026, an international weightlifting tournament, following a spectacular performance.

     Raipur, April 29, 2026: Gyaneshwari Yadav of Chhattisgarh has brought glory to both the nation and the state by winning a gold medal in the 53 kg category at the IBFC Universal Cup-2026, an international weightlifting tournament, following a spectacular performance.

     The international weightlifting tournament is being held from April 25 to May 2 at the Tuanaimato Sports Complex in Apia, Samoa. Approximately 500 athletes and 200 officials from 70 countries are participating in the competition.

     With a brilliant performance, Gyaneshwari secured first place in her group to claim the gold medal. This achievement is also of immense significance for qualification for the 2026 Commonwealth Games.

     Prior to this, Gyaneshwari had won a silver medal at the Junior World Championships and a gold medal at the Senior Commonwealth Championships.

     In recognition of these illustrious achievements—which have brought honor to the state—she was conferred with the Gundadhur Award by the State Government.

     Gyaneshwari is currently serving with the Chhattisgarh Police in Rajnandgaon. She has reached this pinnacle of success through the training and guidance of her coach, Ajay Lohar Vishwakarma.
