Raipur, November 30, 2012: From tomorrow all passengers travelling in any reserved classes would have to produce photo identity card else would be treated as without ticket, the Government of India said today.

With effect from December 01, 2012, one of the passengers booked on a ticket for undertaking journey in any reserved class would have to produce any one of the prescribed proofs of identity failing which all the passengers would be treated as travelling without ticket and charged accordingly, the government sources said.

However, this provision would not affect the existing provision of Tatkal scheme where during the journey the passenger is required to show the original proof of identity indicated on the ticket.

Meanwhile, Indian Railways has also clarified that the numbers of prescribed proofs of identity have been increased from nine to ten.

Photo identity cards having serial number issued by Public Sector Undertakings of State/Central Government, District Administrations, Municipal bodies and Panchayat Administrations have also been included in the list of identity card.
