Raipur, April 28, 2013: Giving a serious blow to the ruling party, an important BJP leader of Chhattisgarh and Jharkhand Chintamani Singh today joined opposition Congress.
Chintamani Singh joined the Congress with his rank and file, PCC Spokesman Shushil Anand Shukla confirmed here.
Singh is the son of Gahira Guru, an important and respected social reformer of tribals and a religious leader.
Chintamani was also the Chairman of the Sanskrit Board under the Raman Singh government.
Singh joined Congress party with his thousands of followers in a function at Kusmi in the presence of PCC President Nand Kumar Patel.
Singh has large number of followers in all the 14 assembly segments of the Sarguja region besides in neighbouring Jharkhand.
Later addressing the gathering Patel said Singh has joined Congress without any pre-condition.
Even Singh clarified, he had not joined Congress to get a ticket in the next assembly election.
Rather all should take a resolution to make the Congress victorious in the next assembly poll, he added.
