Raipur, April 21, 2012: In a daring incident, Maoists today kidnapped District Collector of Sukma Alex V F Paul Menon V after killing both his armed body guards, official said.
“District Collector Alex V F Paul Menon V has been kidnapped by Maoists,” a state Government spokesman told ChhattisgarhTopNews.Com here.
“After killing the body guards, the Civil Servant was kidnapped by armed Maoists,” he said.
When the 2006 batch IAS officer was on a tour of the Kerlapal area of his Sukma district, he was confronted by the Maoists and after exchange of fire, the civil servant was kidnapped by Maoists, the officials said.
Born on February 05, 1980, Alex V F Paul Menon V is a BE (Electronics) and Communication Engineer with MA in Public Policy.
He is a native of Tamil Nadu and joined the civil services in 2006.
The IAS officer took over charges of Sukma district collector on November 16, 2011.
After abduction of two Italian tourists from neighbouring state of Odisha, the Maoists had also kidnapped an MLA from the same state and the kidnapping incident in Chhattisgarh pushed the state administration in to a crisis.
