Jagdalpur, June 20, 2009: Maoists today blown up a truck killing five CRPF jawans and injuring ten cops in Dantewada district of Chhattisgarh.
When a large number of CRPF jawans were travelling in a truck, the Maoists triggered series of land mines blasts, in which five of the jawans were killed and ten injured, three of them seriously, police sources said here.
The incident took place near Kokabada area between Tongpal-Puspal villages.
Home Minister Nanki Ram Kanwar, however, said the forces were themselves responsible for the incident.
Kanwar said the incident took place as the CRPF ignored the direction not to travel in permanent road or in vehicle.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Dr Raman Singh has directed the Health and Police Departments to provide all possible assistance to the injured jawans and wished their speedy recovery.
It was cowardice and shameful acts of Maoists and no elected and democratic government would tolerate such violent activities, Singh also said.
