Dantewada, May 2, 2010: Chhattisgarh Government has deployed helicopters to supply rations to the CRPF camps after Maoists looted daily needs meant for the security forces in insurgent hit areas of Chhattisgarh, police said today.
Maoists had looted rations, vegetables and other materials on different occasions last week when those things were being transported by road to the CRPF camp in Chintalnar of Dantewada district, police sources told ChhattisgarhTopNews.Com.
On April 6 last the Maoists had killed 76 security personnel about three km from the Chintalnar CRPF camp and later on also troubles were being created to the vendors and transporters on route to various camps, police said.
The Maoists stop the private vehicles carrying the materials and unloaded them less than two km from the Chintalnar security camps, police added.
Looking into the problem, the rations and other materials were ferry through the helicopter to the Chintalnar camp, the sources said.
When contacted Bastar Range Inspector General of Police T J Longkumer confirmed through helicopter rations and other daily needs were taken to Chintalnar CRPF camp.
The naxalites on April 20 also attacked Chintalnar, Chintagupha, Errabore, Bhejji, Polampalli and Kanker Lanka security camps, and on Friday night fired a couple of rounds targeting Errabore CRPF camp, but no one was killed or injured in all those incidents, Deputy Superintendent of Police (Operation) Dantewada Sanjay Sharma said.
