Jagdalpur, November 03, 2011: A second brigade of the Indian Army has reached Maoist-hit Bastar region of Chhattisgarh for training on jungle warfare, officials said here today.
About 2500 jawans have reached Bastar jungle for training, officials said here today.
However, they have clarified that the Army jawans are not here for any kind of anti-Maoist operation.
The army personnel would be trained in jungle warfare in Kanker, Bastar and Narayanpur districts of the region during their stay.
Earlier also a brigade was here from June to August last in the Narayanpur district for jungle warfare training.
During the training period, the first team had provided computers and sports items to various schools besides helping the locals in solving their drinking water problem, the officials said adding the health services provided by the army was also praised by the locals.
The fresh team would also work with the locals in addressing their basic amenities, the officials said.
