Korba, February 12, 2009: Ten persons of a family were killed today and five injured when their vehicle jumped into an over flowing canal in Korba district of Chhattisgarh.
After confronting a cycle rider, the driver of a multi utility vehicle lost control of the vehicle and drove that to an over flowing canal between Kherbhawna and Sonpuri villages under the Kusmunda Police station area, about 12 km from the district headquarters, officials told ChhattisgarhTopNews.Com.
There were 18 people in that vehicle when it went into the canal and ten of them were drowned in that incident where as eight are injured, three of them seriously, they said.
With the help of locals, the district administration fished out the Bolero and shifted the injured to the hospital.
A resident of local Electricity Colony Lakshman Kapoor was going to Chhatouna in Bilaspur along with his family members to attend a function when the mishap took place, officials said.
