Raipur, January 16, 2009: The central Election Commission wants appropriate action against the Chhattisgarh Director General of Police Vishwa Ranjan for his comment in media against the Commission. But the state government today said it was yet to receive any such communication.
Director General of Police Vishwa Ranjan also told www.ChhattisgarhTopNews.Com today that he had not been asked to comment on any such matter by the Commission. Hence he was unaware of any such development.
The Commission had taken strong exception to the reported comment in media of Vishwa Ranjan that he was the senior most bureaucrat in Chhattisgarh and was apparently not allowed to function freely during the assembly election by the middle and lower level officials of the Election Commission and the state Election office.
Taking that matter seriously the Election Commission had reportedly sent a letter to the state Governor E S L Narasimhan asking him to take action and the Raj Bhawan had passed on that letter to the state government for further action.
However, when contacted, a senior Secretary told www.ChhattisgarhTopNews.Com that they have not received any such letter from the Raj Bhawan or the Election Commission.
It would be inappropriate to comment on the action part with out receiving any such communication from the Election Commission, the Secretary said adding once that letter is in the hand of the state government, that would be first examined and than next step would be taken.
Meanwhile, the matter had created a ripple in the corridor of power as the state Police Chief is a very close confidant of the Governor and also the Chief Minister.
