     Raipur, May 16, 2010: In a renewed violence in Chhattisgarh, the Maoists have killed at least eight villagers, accusing them as police informers and abducted three persons, where as police have shot dead two Maoists.

     After targeting security forces and killing 84 security personnel since April, the Maoist rebels have killed eight villagers and kidnapped three accusing them as police informers, senior police officers said today.

     “Maoists have slit to death on six villagers, including one Sarpanch, at Teregaon village close to Maharashtra border,” Rajnandgaon SP Praveer Kumar Das said.

     Two villagers were also killed by the Maoists in Kanker district and three villagers were kidnapped in Pratappur area by the naxalites, Kanker District Superintendent of Police Ajay Yadav said.

         Meanwhile, during a combing operation the security forces today killed two Maoist and recovered huge quantity of explosive and two weapons after an encounter with the naxalites in Guniapal forest of Kirandul police station, Dantewada SP Chief Amresh Mishra told ChhattisgarhTopNews.Com.

     Forces are still inside the forest and the search operation was on, Mishra said.

     In a major incident the naxalites had killed 76 policemen in Dantewada on April 6, last and in the neighbouring Bijapur district they had land mined and killed eight police on May 8, last.
