Raipur, July 5, 2009: Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Dr Raman Singh today denied that BJP MP from Bastar Baliram Kashyap had ever threatened to pull down his government.
Singh said he had spoken to Kashyap on that matter and the BJP MP said he cannot think on that line.
After the party also took cognizance of the statement, Kashyap today called a press conference to clarify his position.
Kashyap claimed he had never said, the eleven BJP MLAs from Bastar would withdraw support to the Raman Government if the naxal menace is not controlled.
The clarification from the senior Tribal leader came within 24 hours after he spoke against his own party government.
In a function yesterday Kashyap said if the state Government failed to control the naxal menace then all the BJP MLAs of the Bastar region may go against their own party Government in the state and the government may fall because of that.
He also said the state government should take steps to check the naxal violence in the state and especially in Bastar region.
